Echoes of Hope

Echoes of Hope, an interactive grief journal. When creating this book, I wanted to take into account my own grief process and its fluidity and ask the research question: How can grief journals be integrated into formal grief support programs? How can creative expression of writing and drawing benefit one’s grief journeys through communal support?

In August of 2024, I had the privilege of volunteering at Experience Camps, an organization dedicated to providing a free one-week camp for boys and girls who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. A safe space where people listen to your pain and needs.

Camp really pushed me to speak about things I never let see light and allowed me to connect with women and children alike. I had the honor of leading a journaling skill share with kids to showcase how one can use the simplicities of pen and paper to expresses meaningful thoughts and drawings.

The copy down below was my first rendition. I am pleased to take you along my process of how I created this encapsulation of such precious memories.
